Silver-Tech Contracting held its first annual Community Day Event on July 18th, 2015. Sexsmith is a small family community with a number of our employees residing in its boundaries. We wanted to share our Open House event with the community and so moved the event to the local park. The weather was fantastic and there was plenty to do. Children of all ages enjoyed the sumo wrestling, Our owners ventured back to their childhood days and donned sumo suits, to take on the challenge.
There were hot dogs, freezies, candy floss and popcorn stands for all to come and sample throughout the whole event, and best of all it was all free to anyone who came out to celebrate with us. It was such a success that we will be holding it again next year. The younger children tried their hands at our minion bean bag game as well as pin the donkey. Sebastian Mansell was the lucky winner of the draw and won a remote control helicopter.
It is always good to give back to the community, and we wanted to give back in a way that showed we cared about the environment and the impact we, at Silver-Tech, have on it. A team of workers, and foremen, went out for several days and cleaned the median of high way two, from one end of Sexsmith to the other. We received so many compliments from the residents and non-residents of Sexsmith, including a letter of recognition from the the Mayor.
Silver-Tech has been a proud sponsor of the Teepee Creek Rodeo for many years. Not only proud sponsors, but also actively involved in participating through three generations in such events as wild cow milking, wild horse riding and wild pony riding for the younger cowboys and cowgirls. One of the family members currently serves as a director for the Rodeo, ensuring the continued growth and success of the event.
